The Yass Railway Museum is looking for more volunteers. At the museum we understand that everyone has different skills and interests. We try to match volunteers with the things that they are good at and enjoy! Whether that is gardening, maintenance or having a good old chin wag we have the opportunity for you.

Typically the volunteering commitment each month is to attend one members meeting and complete a few hours of volunteering. Some of our volunteers just come for one day a month to man the museum and others undertake their volunteering role at a time that suits their schedule. We have roles that will suit your availability.

We are also currently recruiting for some specific skills. If any of the following sound like you then we are very keen to hear from you.

General Volunteer - Are you happy to chat with just about anyone? Looking for an excuse to get out of the house? Then this is the role for you. We are looking for more members to help open the museum each week. If you think that this role might suit you please get in touch!

General Gardener - We are looking for someone (or a few people) to help us cheer up our gardens. We already have someone who does the mowing so this role would focus on the gardens and general appearance of the yard.

Promotions and Social Media - We'd love someone with an interest in all things marketing to help us out! We want someone who can help us to continue to grow our presence in the community. This role is flexible around other commitments and might suit someone who wants to be able to volunteer at a time which suits their lifestyle. It might be perfect for a university student who is studying marketing and wants some real world experience.

Display curator - We would love someone who has experience with museum displays and layouts. The inside of the museum hasn't had an update for a while and we would love to refresh our displays and bring life back into the museum. You'll need to be creative and willing to work with the confines of the space available.

Model Train enthusiasts - We'd love a few people who can help bring our model train back to its full glory and to help us start creating some new displays. This would suit someone who has a little know how with model trains but we also welcome those keen to learn!
